The Avid Gaze
Sight is a promiscuous sense; the avid gaze always wants more.

Well, this will seem rude. I have a question about a kink, one I never even heard of before the recent anon meme. Please don't respond with answers about how you just don't get it or think that it's awful, that's not what I want to see happen. We all have our kinks, and mine's quite obvious to anyone who reads my fic, so I know how tender a subject it can be. The anon meme is a great place to air kinks that aren't mainstream, and I don't want anyone to feel put on the spot, so please feel free to reply anonymously.

I don't understand the nature of vore. After looking it up I know what it *is*, but not the sexual nature of it. And in a way, no kink really seems sexual, I mean, what's hot about feet or someone tying someone else up? It's in the feeling something gives you, I suppose, but most kinks I can see the reasoning behind. There are things that seem far worse than vore to me actually, since it's not something that even really ever happens. So I would like if someone wouldn't mind explaining it, or at the very least talking about it in a way that doesn't put down people who are into it. I'm harmless, I swear.

Huh. I actually had to look up what vore meant, and it reminded me of a story we talked about in my Human Sexuality class. Have you ever heard of Armin Meiwes? I think this is a pretty extreme case of vore, but vore nonetheless.

Anyways, I have a feeling that vore is all about ultimate domination or submissiveness. I mean, in BDSM, nobody is really hurt and both partners move on with their lives after. However, with vore, you die. And then you are eaten. There's no walking away from being eaten, you know?

Vore in fic is pretty harmless, though. So to each his own.

I had to look it up, too. And I found out some people like consumption from other orifices besides the mouth, so I don't know what's 'mainstream' vore and what's subsect--either way I'm not sure that death is a part of the appeal. I'm not positive, but I think part of it is that the person is still alive?

Natch, it's harmless--it's all just fiction and given the very few cannibalism stories you ever find in the news, I don't think it's got much to do with actually eating people. There are actually far grosser things that people REALLY do to each other, I was just hoping perhaps the person who had requested the prompt could explain it to me, if they're on my flist. It's not my kink, but I honestly don't care if someone else is into it. I'm just curious, in that way that I am. :P
